Chicago Cosmetic Dentist
Friday, September 3rd, 2010For those who have spaces between teeth, misshapen, small, stained or darkened teeth then you must try cosmetic dentistry bonding. Tooth bonding, generally, is a procedure to bind a tooth-colored resin (a durable plastic material) to the tooth by means of a special high intensity light (eg. laser). The resin hardens on the outside of the tooth thus restoring the individual’s smile. Cosmetic teeth bonding is good for a small area of damage tough as it chips off easily compared to veneers and crowns.
The benefits of dental bonding are numerous. It is cheaper as compared to other cosmetic dental procedures. Tooth bonding also takes short amount of time at all to make and can often be done in one dental visit. The task doesn’t require any anesthesia except when it’s for tooth filling.
The procedure goes as followed. Your dentist would first uses a shade guide to identify your teeth’s color. Then he is going to roughen the surface of your tooth in preparation to bonding. A conditioning liquid is applied to your tooth to help bind the resin to your tooth. The resin looks like a soft putty that is the same color as your teeth. It will be applied over your tooth and a laser light will be shining over it. This will harden the resin and binds it to your tooth. Soon after seconds, the resin will harden and your dentist will further trim and polish it so it would look like an actual part of your real tooth.
